Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
Abstract
In this paper I describe an on-going partnership between the traditional teacher education program where I work and serve as Department Chair and The New Teacher Project (TNTP). Founded by Michelle Rhee, this organization provides an alternative route to teaching, but also supports and guides teacher evaluation efforts and charter school expansion. I explore my institutions motivations for this partnership and offer an on-the-ground reporting of TNTP's operations and ideological practices.
