Catalog Description

(taken from 2017-18 Course Catalog): This course provides an introduction to the fundamental knowledge of derivatives, integrals, and matrix algebra found in biostatistical inference. The course will introduce the theory of quadratic forms and their applications to distributions, the method of maximum likelihood estimation, likelihood ratio tests, restricted maximum likelihood, and the basis for inferences derived from hypothesis testing and confidence intervals. Emphasis will be placed on how these techniques are used in biostatistical problems and applications using examples from the pharmaceutical industry.
