The mission of the Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) degree – Biostatistics program concentration is to prepare individuals to function as applied biostatisticians in public health and biomedical related fields. Biostatistics is the development and application of statistical reasoning and methods in addressing, analyzing and solving problems in public health; health care; and biomedical, clinical and population-based research. Students completing a Dr.P.H. in Biostatistics degree within the JPHCOPH at Georgia Southern University will be able to serve the community, region, state, nation, or world through governmental, private, and academic sectors by utilizing his/her biostatistical skills gained in order to help solve public health and biomedical problems in rural and urban environments.

The mission of the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree – Biostatistics program concentration is to prepare individuals to function as applied biostatisticians in public health and biomedical related fields. Biostatistics is the development and application of statistical reasoning and methods in addressing, analyzing and solving problems in public health, health care, biomedical, clinical and population-based research. Students completing an M.P.H. in Biostatistics degree within the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University will be able to serve the community, region, state, nation, or world through governmental, private, and academic sectors by utilizing his/her biostatistical skills gained in order to help solve public health and biomedical problems in rural and urban environments.
